One word that I’ve been very much guilty myself of using a lot over the last few years is “legacy”. I’ve used it to describe everything from older version of Windows, black and white laser printers, through to BlackBerry and now even iPhones!
It’s crazy to think that the original iPhone launched back in 2007, and I’m now classifying even the iPhone 4 as out of date, and not widely supported by a lot of the modern applications out there, and that was only launched in 2010! But… I digress… I’m not here to rant about how the introduction of Apple “shinys” has vastly shortened the life cycle of our technology today (though it’s a good idea for another write up, do keep a look out for that one!) I’m here to simply talk about this word… “Legacy”.
In my younger days, “legacy” was simply a word I used to mean that something was old and no longer relevant, that it was no longer going to be supported and that you really shouldn’t be using it any more!
